Besides making laws, what are some other jobs of the House of Representatives and senate?

The major responsibility of the House of Representatives and the Senate are to write laws for the United States of America. However, there are also other duties that Congress controls. A major function of Congress is to disperse and determine the federal budget of the U. S. Government. Each year Congress' passes a budget to fund the federal government through the fiscal year. Congress is also granted the power to declare war by the U. S. Constitution, but an official declaration of war has not happened for decades. Also Congress is responsible if it were deemed appropriate to impeach and hold a trial for a sitting U. S. President.
