    The Chinese Exclusion Act was the first law in the United States which barred an ethnic group from coming into the states. The Gentlemen's Agreement was an agreement between the United States and the Empire of Japan; whereby they (USA) would not impose restrictions on immagration and Japan would not allow any further emigration. This agreement was done in order to reduce tensions between the two countries.
