Physical Education (PE)

1. It is guaranteed to reach virtually all children, physical education is the only sure opportunity for nearly all school-age children to access health-enhancing physical activities.

2. High-quality physical education programs are characterized by (1) instruction by certified physical education teachers, (2) a minimum of 150 minutes per week (30 minutes per day) for children in elementary schools and 225 minutes per week (45 minutes per day) for students in middle and high schools, and (3) tangible standards for student achievement and for high school graduation.

3. Students are more physically active on days on which they have physical education.

4. Quality physical education has strong support from both parents and child health professional organizations.

5. Several models and examples demonstrate that physical education scheduled during the school day is feasible on a daily basis.

Music

1. Music for the entertainment of an audience, and in concerts.

2. It is is also entertainment for the performer.

3. Music is often used to transmit a story or ballad, and enhancement of the oral tradition in literature.

4. Music mostly accompanies dance to get people up on their feet.

5. Music is used to enhance festivals, parties, weddings, receptions, sporting events and as the public and private social events.

Dance

1. Dance accompanies music.

2. Dance is created with the intent to express or communicate emotion, feelings, ideas (ballet, tap dance, modern dance, dance created and performed in a concert and/or theatrical setting or an audience).

3. Dance is more than the exploring of different ways to make a shape or learning a series of steps to music; it is a way of moving that uses the body as an instrument of expression and communication.

4. Dance also enables students to better understand themselves and the world in which they live.

5. There are multiple types of dance to explore.
