Why can stereotypes actually cause people to behave in ways that conform to the given stereotype? because the positive views directed toward them lead them to behave in routine ways because the negative views directed toward them lead them to perform poorly because stereotypes are always accurate because stereotypes account for individual variability within groups?

    I think the correct answer would be the second option. Stereotypes can actually would cause people to behave in ways that conform to the given stereotype because the negative views directed toward them lead them to perform poorly. A stereotype is an idea that is being accepted widely by the majority regardless whether this idea is correct or not. It usually refers or directed to types of individuals, behaviors in certain situations and about a group of people. Many of the stereotypes are homophobic, racist and sexist. Being widely accepted, the people would tend to conform to them so as to avoid social discrimination.
