Mulching, also called "padding", is a technique already widely used in agriculture and gardening. It consists in forming a weather-resistant physical barrier on the ground surface and in adverse weather conditions, and offers numerous benefits for the most diverse crops.

Mulching first shredders used were made with organic materials, but over time the technique has evolved and today the best method of applying shredders is to use used plastic films. The options are black mulching, black and white mulching, and black and silver mulching. Each has different features to adapt the need for soil and its cultivation line. Its use is common for strawberry, melon, tomato, pineapple, bell pepper, lettuce, eggplant, grape, ornamental palm, among others.
