According to the sociometer theory, we can judge how good someone's interpersonal skills by looking at their self-esteem. This theory believe that people with high self-esteem tend to have good interpersonal skills. So we use sociometer theory to judge/evaluate other people

According to Concept of appraisal, people tend to think of themselves based on what they think on how other people judge them. So we use concept of reflected appraisal to judge/evaluate ourselves, not other people.
