    The document that established the separation of the colonies and Britain, highlighted natural rights all men held, and listed grievances against the King was the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence was signed on 4th of July 1776. There were thirteen colonies that agreed on this declaration and 12 representatives signed this document. This declaration was to show the British that the thirteen states were independent and they had the right to form their own government without any interference from the Britishers.
