    The only response that does NOT apply is response B. All the others fit the scenario when the Old World encountered the New World.

    Cultures that existed in the Americas when the Europeans arrived faced a variety of new pressures. As the Spanish settled in South America, Mexico, and Central America, and the Caribbean, all of the existing cultures faced the pressure to integrate to the encomienda system that was used by the Conquistadores for dividing land among them. In North America especially stronger indigenous groups took advantage of the weaker groups in relation to the standing with the Europeans. Some groups assimilated peacefully but there were also violent classes as the colonies gained more of a foothold in the Americas. Some cultures were completely absorbed in the Caribbean especially and particular groups disappeared from traceable existence.
