    Explanation: The root name server is a name server which controls the root zone of the Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet. The server is directly responsible for answering requests for records located in the root zone and answers other requests by returning a list of the authoritative name servers. The root name servers are a very vital part of the Internet system because they are the first step in resolving human readable host names into IP (Internet protocol) addresses that are used in transfer of information between Internet hosts.
