Procedural memory is the type of implicit memory that is at play.

    Explanation:

Procedural memory is the type of implicit memory that is at play in Melanie's case. Implicit memory is the kind of long-term memory that is acquired and used unconsciously. Procedural memory is the one responsible of storing information so that certain activities can be done without having to think about it. Walking, running, talking or riding a bike are examples of this kind of memory. It also tends to connect unconsciously events or situations from the past. In this case, Melanie once got sick riding the roller coaster because she previously had eaten corn nuts. Her procedural memory linked the two events and now she cannot eat corn nuts because she relates them to getting sick even if there's no real connection. It's an unconscious process of the mind.
