Incapacitation is punishment that a person receives for infringing on the rights of others. It imposes a penalty on the offender and is based on the premise that the punishment should fit the crime. The greater the degree of social harm, the more the offender should be punished.

One of the reasons people are been punished for the crimes they committed is the fact that there is going to be restrictions in the social life and and deprived of many things. Also, they are being isolated from the normal society and this is done by putting offenders in prison with the order from the court of law. This concept is known as Incapacitation.
