What was the Iran-Contra affair, and what did it show about the nature of the executive branch of government, even after Watergate?

    The Iran-Contra affair was when Iranian militants stormed the US embassy in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution and kidnapped American diplomats. As a result, President Jimmy Carter froze Iranian assets in the US until they re leased it as ransom for the hostages.
