The legislature in the state of texas does a great deal of its work in committees, so much so that these committees are often referred to as "little legislatures." committee types in the house include substantive, procedural, and select committees. senate committees are designated as either or special interim committees. in addition to different types of committees in both the texas house and the texas state senate, some committees combine membership from both chambers.
