    Impression management is a technique that we used in order to impress people so that they can like us, we can do this by trying to sound smart or by telling them more about our advanced achievements.

    For example when we go to an interview we want to leave an impression that will get us hired hence we give all that will make them get caught by the things we have accomplished in life.

    We can also use impression to our friends so that they can like us or be impressed by what we have accomplished in life.

    Impression management occurs when we just talk about ourselves and what we have done but when we start to add things that are beyond what we personally have done, that is when we start to enhance the impression for example mentioning that you have met a celebrity will even improve how your friends get impressed by you.

    John here is trying to enhance how impressive he is by adding that he also knows Tom Cruise personally.
