How has the American civil service system changed since George Washington's presidency

    Since President George Washington’s time, the American civil service system has changed dramatically. The executive branch only had the state, war, and treasury department. Also, following the Civil War, the federal bureaucracy increased significantly. Civil service system was created to make sure that there will be more jobs.
