    One needs to collect sufficient factual information to back up their knowledge or claim.

    This process has to be done thoroughly and completely by ensuring that one has collected factual evidence on the subject they want to discuss.

    Conclusions based on personal views without sufficient facts can not be a ground that one can stand on firmly.

    This is the reason Jim wants them to substantiate their views with facts on each candidate that they support which will give their views credibility.

    This will cause them to even evaluate their own biases and personal values as they gather as much factual information as possible.
