The most known example of active transport across a cell membrane is the so called Na/K pump, or also known as the sodium-potassium pump. The sodium-potassium pump works against the usual concentration gradient of different ions in the cell. It is considered to be one of the best examples of how active transport across a cell membrane works as this is the basis of ion regulation in your nerve cells.
