It means if parent or any family member have depression it is possible that it is inherited to the next generation and when a baby born, with his/her growth he/she saw depressed condition in his/her surrounding (environmental factor) which affect the mental condition of a person and get depressed.

Gene 3p25-26 is responsible for genetic depression

    Explanation:

It has been found that a prevalent gene on chromosome i. e. 3p25-26 is responsible for hereditary depression. This gene is believed to be producing recurrent depression. Thus, it is believed that nearly 40% of the depression is due to genetic reason and the remaining 60% is due to the environmental reasons.
