    Explanation:

    Mendel's law of segregation states that pair of alleles representing a gene segregate during gamete formation and randomly unite during fertilization.

    Hence, a gene represented by Rr alleles will segregate into R and r gametes. Out of the two gametes, one will carry R allele while the other one will carry r allele. The probability that a gamete will carry an r allele therefore is 1/2.
