The division of any cell, prokaryotic or eukaryotic, requires that the genetic information in each of the parent cell's chromosomes be faithfully copied and distributed into each daughter cell. only then does the cell physically divide. because of their divergent evolutionary paths, bacteria, plants, and animals have somewhat different mechanisms of chromosome separation and cell division.

    Bacterial binary fission is similar in some ways to the mitosis that happens in eukaryotes and other humans. In both cases, chromosomes are copied and separated, and the cell divides its cytoplasm to form two new cells.
