    We know that the frequency of the recessive homozygote genotype "dd" is q2 and equal to 0.16

    Obtain the square root of q2

    square root of 0.16 = 0.4

    AND we also know that p + q = 1

    Thus, p = 1 - q ∴ p = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

    ∴The homozygote dominant "DD" is represented by p2;

    The square of p is obtained below

    (0.6) 2 = 0.36

    Note that of all the cattle population, Shorthorn 0.36 0.48 0.16 has its "dd" and "DD" traits obey the pattern shown above
