Enterotoxin is an exotoxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus which settles in the small intestine and causes inflammation, Inflammation then can cause abdominal pain, dehydration, diarrhoea and fever. Important properties of enterotoxin are that it is a heat stable toxin and resistant to digestive protease. Diseases caused by exotoxins include food poisoning and toxic shock syndrome.
