A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, while a motor does the opposite - it converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Both devices work because of electromagnetic induction, which is when a voltage is induced by a changing magnetic field. Nov 6, 2014

    mechanical energy

    Explanation:

An electric motor works on the principle that when a current carrying coil is placed in magnetic field, a torque acts on the coil which rotates it. Thus, electrical energy converts to mechanical energy. Fleming's left hand rule is used. A electrical motor pump is generally used to draw water at home.
