Explanation:
Producers are completely self sufficient in the means that they need no consumers to survive. One may argue that a consumers remains will fertilize the soil, but a producer's compost can do this just as well. Consumers, on the other hand, are needy on behalf of plants as plants are the base of the food chain and no consumers would survive without them. : -D
