1. Having spent much time in sunlight during youth, an older person develops skin cancer and has the growths removed. What environmental mutagen causes the growths to keep coming back AND why might the growths keep coming back?

2. Is a mutation that happens during meiosis likely to affect a single gene or an entire chromosome? Explain.

    1. remaining skin cells still have the mutation that causes the cancer in their DNA, even if the symptoms are removed

    2. it is likely to affect an entire chromosome because during meiosis there may be errors in crossing over when the condensed chromosomes can exchange large parts of the chromosomes in error
