They identified the bodies using DNA and forensic anthropology

    Explanation:

Forensic anthropology deals with various aspects of medico-legal research related to death, namely when the individual's corpse is in an advanced state of decomposition or skeletonized. In these cases, the forensic anthropologist applies theoretical and practical knowledge and principles developed and used by anthropology, biology and archeology to answer questions related to identity, such as sex or age, as well as the circumstances of death, through analysis and detailed study of the individual's bone and dental remains and the physical context in which he was found.

DNA can also be used to discover the identity of bodies found dead. However, DNa is a very delicate molecule and sometimes has limitations for the identification of bodies. However with the advancement of technology, these limitations have been getting smaller and smaller.

Forence anthropology and DNA were crucial for the peccerelli team to identify the bodies they found.
