A patient presents with findings of pain, warmth, redness, and swelling below the inner canthus toward nose. tearing is present and when pressure is applied to the lacrimal sac, a purulent discharge from the puncta is noted. this is suggestive of: blepharitis. dacryocystitis. a hordeolum. a chalazion.

    The answer to this question would be: dacryocystitis

    The inner canthus is the place for nasolacrimal sac that connects the eye to the nasal cavity. The purulent discharge is signifying that the sac is infected. Blepharitis should be happening in the eyelid. Hordeolum and chalazion should be in the glands of upper or lower eyelid.
