    The timing of meals is important but the reason is not that the digestive tract is functioning only at certain times but because it affects the wellness of a person. Our body requires nutrients that are obtained from the food we eat, however, these nutrients are only obtained once the food is digested properly since our body requires these nutrients to function well it is important to have proper meals at proper times. Digestion can occur at any time however there are certain limitations when we are exercising and sleeping. It is usually advised to not eat just before sleeping because the digestive process slows down while sleeping and not to eat before exercising as it may interfere with the physical work, however, there is no such time when the digestive system doesn't work.
