The ratio of the initial to the final pressure of a given

mass of gas is 1:1.5. Calculate the final volume of the

gas if the initial tolume was 300m at the same tempe-

    Explanation:

    Boyle's law states experimentally that the pressure gradually increases as the volume starts decreasing gradually (experiment conduct at constant temperature). At constant temperature, pressure is inversely proportional to the volume. i. e. p1v1 = p2v2

    p1=initial pressure

    v1 = initial volume

    p2 = final pressure

    v2 = final volume

    On simplifying the Boyle's law equation we can easily get one unknown term if three terms are known. So, v2 = (p1/p2) * v1 = (1/1.5) * 300 = 200 Ans.
