Why is it important for cardiac muscle to have many mitochondria?

It is very important for the cardiac muscle to have many mitochondria because the heart is always working (beating). It is constantly in need of energy. The large amounts of mitochondria are able to produce to needed amounts of energy to keep your heart pumping all day, everyday.
