    Women who enter pregnancy with excess weight (BMI-29) should gain atleast 15 pounds. The recommended weight gain during pregnancy for a healthy normal weight woman is 25 to 35 pounds. Weight gain recommendations during pregnancy are based on the weight at the time of conception. Underweight women may need to gain only 15 to 25 pounds during pregnancy.
