A gamete is a cell that is produced by sexually reproducing organisms that is capable of fusing with another gamete to form a single zygote which then initiates the development of a new organism. A male gamete is called a female gamete is called the egg. In the reproduction process, a male and female gamete fuses to form an embryo. A gamete is a single cell that is produced to initiate the process of reproduction in sexually reproducing organisms. However, hormones are regulatory substances that is produced in an organism to transmit certain tissue fluids or chemicals that will generate a specific action in the body. For example Adrenaline generates the sense of alertness and the decision of fight or flight. Testosterone and osterogen are sex hormones that generate the process of sexual functions.

Hence a gamete is not a hormone but a cell that initiates the reproduction process and hence the statement is false.
