Water is the most abundant molecule found in living organisms. Most mammals, in fact, are approximately 70% water by weight. About 2/3 of this water is present inside cells. The other 1/3 is present outside cells (e. g in blood plasma or other body fluids). Why is water so important to cells?

    Almost all chemical reactions in life processes occur in solutions with water. It is the most abundant molecule found in living organisms. Most mammals, in fact, are approximately 70% water by weight. About 2/3 of this water is present inside cells. The other 1/3 is present outside cells (e. g in blood plasma or other body fluids). Without water the proper transport and processes that occur with a cell will not efficiently function therefore making the organism inefficient as well.
