    Explanation:

    Gap junction directly connects the cytoplasm of two cell for the regulated movement of ions, molecules and electrical impulse. They create the coordination between the body cells. Gap junction contains number of pores between cells. The lumen diameter of gap junction is 1.2-2 nm is enough for the movement of ions and molecules.

    These are found in all part of highly developed organisms except the fully matured muscle tissue and mobile cells such as sperm.

    Electrical synapse is a gap junction found between pre and post synaptic neuron for the transmission of signals. Electrical synapse unlike chemical synapse cannot increase the origional signal in post synaptic neuron. They are involved in rapid responses.
