Compare: They both describe a physical property of matter, and are both found through measurements.
Contrast: Density measures the amount of matter present in an object. Volume is concerned with the amount of space the object occupies.

Density, however, is the mass of an object divided by its volume ... This means that the lead has a higher density than cotton. To summarize, volume and density measure two different things. Volume measures how big the space of something is, whereas density measures the how much mass there is in this space (volume).
