The answer to this question would be: fluid and electrolyte imbalances are corrected

In hypertrophic pylorus stenosis, the infant could not eat per oral because of the obstruction in the pylorus. Since there is no fluid and food intake, the infant might undergo fluid and electrolyte imbalance. Patient with this condition is at more risk of failure when doing the operation as it would alter the function of the cardiovascular and nervous system. It is best to correct the imbalance first using IV line infusion.
