    Explanation:

    The mucous membrane "conjunctiva" line the lower and upper portion of the eyelid of eye. It covers the white portion of eye ball i. e the anterior surface and also lubricates the eye. Conjunctiva membrane is made up of squamous epithelium which is mixed with mucus cell which not only cover the inner portion of lower & upper eyelid and anterior surface of eye but also cover the visible part of sclera and through the tears (lacrimal gland) prevent eyes from drying.
