The two hormones that are commonly referred to as thyroid hormone are thyroxine and triiodothyronine. They both control metabolism and growth in the body. Their other functions include slowing down or speed up the heartbeat, raising or lowering the body temperature, changing how fast foods move through the digestive organ, affecting the muscle strength, and controlling how fast the body replaces dying cells.
