What is quicksand? how does it work?

Quicksand is formed when regular sand, or mud or gravel comes in contact with a flowing water source, usually an underground stream.
The flowing water flows in between the particles of sand and acts as a lubricant to reduce the friction. the sand particles get suspended in water and sand changes into liquefied state. As long as the water flows, the quick sand bed will exist.
