The Coriolis effect makes storms spin in a clockwise direction in the Southern hemisphere and in a counterclockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere. This effect tends to deflect the moving objects to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere. This effect is important in the formation of cyclonic weather systems.
