What is the difference between dominant and ressesive trait

    When an allele is dominant, the characteristic it is connected to will be expressed in an individual. When an allele is recessive, the characteristic it is connected to is less likely to be expressed. Recessive traits only manifest when both alleles are recessive in an individual.

    Explanation:

    Dominant means that one of the versions trumps the other. In our example here, brown is dominant over blue so you end up with brown eyes.

    The way people write out dominant and recessive traits is the dominant one gets a capital letter and the recessive one a lower case letter. So for eye color, brown is B and blue is b.
