    I believe the options are:

    1) Present day species developed from earlier species.

    2) Some species die out when environmental changes occur.

    3) Complex organism develop from simple organisms over time.

    4) Change occurs according to the needs of an individual.

The answer is 4) Change occurs according to the needs of an individual.

    Explanation:

    Theory of Evolution:

By definition, evolution is the process of change in an individual's/organism's characteristics over time. Evolution occurs through mutations in the genetic information or DNA of an individual. The theory of evolution states that all organisms change over time and are descendants of a single common ancestor. Species adapt to the changing environment by introducing variations in their DNA over millions of years. Harsh environment conditions eliminate organisms that cannot adapt to the changing environment and only the fittest survive. This is called natural selection. This process, occurring over millions of years, results in the formation of an entirely new species. The theory of evolution is contrary to the concept of Lamarckism or inheritance of acquired characters which states that characters that an organism acquires during its lifetime can be passed on to its offspring.
