    Learning theorists would use habituation to describe this reaction. A animal will not respond to a stimulus as much as it did before do to repetition. Another example of habituation applies to humans and medicine, As a person continues to use the same medicine the effects will be less and less effective due to the person's body becoming used to the medicine.
