    REM sleep or rapid eye movement sleep is one of the stages of the sleep cycle which is marked by random or rapid movement of the eyes.

    It usually lasts for 10-15 minutes in the first sleep cycle. However, it keeps on increasing with progressive sleep cycle and can reach up to the duration of 60-90 minutes in adults.

    Changes observed during REM sleep are:
