    The priority nursing interventions would be Focusing on daily activities while avoiding discussion of the eye discomfort. The clients's eye problems are a conversion reaction. Avoiding discussion of the physical problems prevents the client from using this topic to avoid an exploration of feelings. Focusing on the safe topic of activities may eventually progress to a discussion of emotion laden topics such as feelings. It is too early for encouraging involvement in group activities, the client is too introspective to become involved with group activities at this time. Focusing on the physical allows the client to avoid feelings. The data do not indicate that the client has an organic problem and is going blind.
