An electrocardiogram is a test that records the electrical activity of the heart, providing information about the heart rate and rhythm. The electrocardiogram is used to diagnose and monitor various heart diseases like arrhythmia, artery obstruction, heart damage, heart failure and heart attack (myocardial infarction). However, it does not predict the risk of a future heart attack.
