Would it be possible for two different species to have the same name?

    Yes. This is called genetic variation. This only occurs in sexual reproductive organisms, as asexual reproduction creates clones. The other possibility is through adaptation, and contouring to fit the needs of the organism, and the environment in which it is adapting to.
