What are individual muscle cells termed?

    The scientific or medical word for individual muscle cells is myocyte. These are long, tubular cells that came from myoblasts. There are 3 types of myocytes - cardiac (found in the heart tissues), skeletal (supports the body) and smooth muscle cells (controls involuntary movements).
