The weight of the cucumber is 100 lb

    The water is 99%

The weight of solid in the cucumber is 1%

When the cucumber dehydrates only water will be lost.

As the water reduces to 98% the remaining percentage that represent solids is 2% (weight has doubled)

Percentage solid weight = wiegth of solid part/total weight

Percentage of solid has doubled, but solid weight is constant. The logical explanation is the the total weight of the cucumber is halved resulting in doubling of percent solid

    Thus new weight = 100/2 = 50 lb
