    I'd choose A. Linux is open source; companies can modify the code anyway they want it.

    B does not make sense. Linux is free and open source. Also, something that costs more isn't necessarily the best choice.

    C also isn't plausible. Other operating systems like Windows and Macs are not "bad" for research, per se. You can definitely do research with other operating systems.

    D implies that the visuals are important for research companies in general, which isn't true
